Question 1 of the diagnostic

Let's find out what's actually going on. In one sentence — who specifically are you trying to reach, and what specific problem do you solve for them?

The point lands. Tighten the edges and it'll do real work.

What's working

  • States a result, not just an activity.
  • No buzzwords — it reads like a human said it.
  • Short enough to be read in one breath.

What's costing you

  • "clients" isn't a market. Say exactly who, and who it isn't.
  • A competitor could paste this line onto their own site unchanged.

You're in the right place if…

“Leads come in, but almost nothing closes.”

Usually Follow-up & Trust

“I'm posting constantly and nothing moves.”

Usually Visibility & Conversion

“People say "interesting" and then disappear.”

Usually Message & Offer

“I've bought five courses and still feel stuck.”

Usually Market Clarity

Each of those symptoms points at a different broken part of the machine. Guessing which one is the expensive mistake.

How it works

01

Answer

Two to three sharp questions per dimension, in plain language. About 15 minutes.

02

Diagnose

Every dimension gets a 1–3 score, then one is named as the constraint actually holding you back.

One constraint.

The Sequence Rule

Constraints are ordered. Work them out of order and you pay twice.

Traffic sent to a message that doesn't land is money spent teaching people to ignore you. A referral system built on a fuzzy market just multiplies the wrong customer. Every dimension depends on the ones before it.

That's why this doesn't hand you a five-item to-do list. It names the earliest broken link in the chain — the one whose fix makes everything downstream cheaper — and puts the rest in order behind it.

The framework

Built on the five growth dimensions from my book, Customers Are Like Fish

I'm Steve Nakamoto, the author. My premise is simple: customers behave like fish, and most businesses fish badly — wrong water, wrong bait, wrong timing. This diagnostic applies my own framework as triage, scanning all five dimensions before it tells you where to cast.

Common questions

Is this really free?

Yes. There's no account, no email capture and no paywall. You run the diagnostic and download your summary.

Do you store my answers?

No account and no email. Your answers are sent to our server to generate your diagnosis and are not stored there. The transcript and summary are saved in your browser so you can reload and resume, and we log anonymous usage events (an anonymous ID and page/step names only — never your answers).

What if I disagree with the result?

Good. The diagnosis is a starting argument, not a verdict. It names the constraint your own answers point to, with the reasoning shown so you can push back.

How is this different from a quiz?

A quiz scores you. This reads your actual answers, follows up where they're vague, and returns one ordered sequence of what to fix — not five things to work on at once.

Stop guessing which fix matters.

Fifteen minutes from now you'll have one named constraint and an ordered plan.
